Tagging madness

I think there were 740 sessions with "tagging" somehow in their name. It got a bit tiresome, but "social information architecture" was on everyone's lips, and the desire to explore how users can create structure is obvious. Clearly something very real is happening. One panel referred to what many people are doing as the "shared design of semi-structured information environments."

Lots of people are experimenting with how to make tags a little more useful and structured (such as combining them with facets - see Mefeedia), or to improve the UI of the rather useless tag clouds (blog to follow).
