Web 2.0 madness

Yes, the Web 2.0 meme has infected the IA circles as well. There's some backlash against the term as marketing buzz, but overall belief in the philosophies behind it. Some attributes of Web 2.0 from an Adaptive Pathian:

• Network effect
• Long tail
• User-contributed value
• Remixability
• Co-creation
• Decentralization
• Emergent systems

One interesting point: Web 1.0 was based on a physical space metaphor, so we talked about navigation and wayfinding. But now it's more web applications than web sites, so maybe the virtual space metaphor is dying. Maybe thinking should change from places and things to streams and flows.

Flickr and Del.icio.us screenshots were in way too many sessions as the golden children of Web 2.0. (Check out this amazing Flickr User Model.)
